Here I am trying to write the news and bake a cake at the same time, as the old saying is, trying to kill two birds with one stone. There are lots of sickness among our people. We welcome to our department, Gerald Satterfield, one of our former employees. Gerald has been serving in the Navy for the past few years and we are proud to have him home again. Mrs. Rubv Hughes is improving after being a patient at the Hays Hospital. Mrs. Mae Nelson says she is really enjoying herself eating fresh meat after having a hog killed. Don't eat too much Mac or you will be sick and unable to work. Billv Davis was a week end visitor of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Davis. Billy had a broken finger when he returned home from the Navy. Hope he won't have too much trouble with it. Pvt. Tracy L. Quinton reenlisted in service and left for Fort Houston, Texas and for further duty to school. Miss Mae Johnson is back with us again after being out sick several days. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Littlefield visited Mr. Henry Knight of Enoree. who is very sick. Mrs. K. B. Brownlee of Laurens visited Mr. and Mrs. Russell Iusti of Joanna. Mr. and Mrs. Edd Duckett and Mrs. Leida Davis Lvman were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Littlefield visited their new nephew, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fowler, of Woodruff. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wil namson 01 i\ew York visited Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williamson of Laurens. Little Jennie Lynn Clark is sick with the measles. Mr. Pat and Dikes Nelson motored to Augusta. Ga. to see their mother. Mrs. Mildred Bragg and children were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Nelson. Our deeDest sympathy to Mr. Gene Cook on the recent passing of his mother of Canton, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Rav Cannady visited Mrs. Cannadv's mother. Mrs. Lola Brown, of Lvdia. Ooal Owens said that she didn't have anv news because nothing exciting happened to her. On January 25 the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pentecostal Church of Lydia honored Mrs. Reba Brian with a surprise birthday nartv at her home. There were 25 guests present. After refreshments were served Mrs. Brian received many beautiful and useful gifts. Mrs. Harold Austin is visit ing Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Austin and family while Harold is on a far off cruise with the Navy. On a recent Saturday Miss Shirley Quinton and Miss Harriett Wilson attended the Holiday On Ice show in Greenville. Miss Libby Young has improved after being sick several days. We are proud to have Sandra Oakley back with us after being sick several days. Nellie Owens remains at home sick. We wish for her a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Winfred Robinson of West Palm Beach, Fla. were recent visitors of Mrs. Robinson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Pearson. On returning home, Harold Pearson accompanied them for a few weeks stay. Have a nice time Harold. Mr. David Satterfield is spending a faw days with his son. Gerald, and family. Our sympathy to Mr. Luther Cothran in the death of his mother. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Pearson and daughters from England have arrived in the states and are visiting Mr. and Mrs. L. H.
