DECEMBER. 1959 WEAVING NO. 1 1st Shift By Sudie L. Putnam Hello, Folks. It's almost Christmas again. May I take this opportunity to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas. Neuffer seems to be all excited about it but we know why. It's because he's grandpa. Let's all hope Ole Santa will be as safety minded as we have all tried to be through the past years. Then maybe he won't have an accident and visit all of us. During the past month most of the employees in our department have taken part on the safety program. We have talked to (ill people on safety in Weaving -1 and would like for you to read some of the talks which were made: Sam Owens, a visit inn weaver, talked about why a weaver shouldn't start a loom from the back and the danger of it. Clinton Gambrell. an hour hand, talked about grease on the floor and how to get rid of it. each and every employee to watch for such hazards and clean them up. Then sprinkle speedy-dry on the floor. I.umas Lake, an hour hand, talked on our part in the safety program would be to help keep Weaving -1 free from all safety hazard. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neal visited Mr. Neal's mother, Mrs. Lula Xeal. in Greenville recently. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Putnam and Wallace spent a Sunday in Rock Hill with Sudie's brother. Mr. Calvin Siegler, recently. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jackson. Mrs. D. (i. Jackson and Mi ss Minnie Hughes of Columbia. Miss Lucille Blanche and Mrs. Hodge Donabee of Spartanburg spent a Sunday with M?\ and Mrs. Bill Terry and family. Mrs. Leo Riser. Mr. and Mrs. David Smart of Rosewell. New Mexico, spent a week recently with Mrs. Smart's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Alexander. Also visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Alexander recently were Mrs. Alexander's father, Mr. John Medlock. and her brother. Frank Medlock. and family of Liberty, S. C. Wayne Robinson of Columbia spent the weekend with his mother. Mrs. Lucy Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Vaughn and children and Ann Vaughn of Norfolk. Va.. visited Ernest Vaughn and Mrs. Susie Hawks. Ann is spending a l(>U" with hot- f:i1 lior Mr. Ernest Vaughn. Ann Vaughn. Mrs. Susie Ilawks and Beatrice spent Swndav with Mr. and Mrs. H. I . Vaughn in I la. Ga. They also spent time with Mr. and Mrs. Willie Tolbert in Commerce. Ga. Our deepest sympathy goes to Mrs. L. L. Rice in the loss of her father. Mr. H. H. Bennett. who passed away at his home in Laurens Thursday, December ?1. Mr. and Mrs. Dorsev Turner will celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary the 22nd of December. Billy Butler was 10 years old December 5. Wayne Butler will be 12 years old the 24th of December. Douglas Rice will be 13 years old December 23 Mr. Burton Phillips, father of Mrs. Inez Turner, will be fia vears old December 28. Dorsey Turner will have a birthday January 3. Wayne Robinson will be 13 the 28th of December Mrs. Pearl Patterson, mothel of Mrs. I.ucv Robinson, was 03 years old December 11. Well, folks, it will soon be Christmas it Mil tlu* Now Year so lot's not forgot what wo havo learned at our safety meetings. Mr. and Mrs. Elbert McCall spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Boner of Greenville. Mrs. Boner is Mr. McCall's sister. Ray McCall spent the weekend with his cousin. Ted Sexton, in Pickens. S. C. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stroud visited in Charleston over this weekend with Mrs. Stroud, Mike and Dad. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Lawson are two proud parents of a big seven pound bov. They have two other children, both girls. Mr. Lawson is Dot Lawson's brother. Mr. and Mrs. Reginal Cheek went shopping in Greenville Saturday. Mr. Cheek seems to think the nlare vi-ns ?iorta J - - - * * vv* crowded, especially the parking lots. No kidding, parking places are hard to find. I know, in Greenville. WEAVING NO. 2 1st Shift By Ina Bell Hooper and Blanche Creswell It is way past my bed time, but I am thinking of how happv I think we will be bv the time you read this, that I will write what news I have anyway, it's warm and cozy here so that helps a lot. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Campbell of Charlotte. X. C.. visited the Thanksgiving holidays, with Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Oxner and visited Mr. and Mrs. Charles Oxner of Aiken, also. Mr. and Mrs. Walt McAlis1 or visited his mother, who is ill. over the weekend. Mrs. Nellie Price, her mothel. Mrs. Ella Harvey, and Johnny spent Saturday in Greenville. We are sorry to report Janet Cauhle was called to Greenville because of her brother beinu seriously injured in a fall. They sav he has a broken back. He is in the General Hospital in Greenville. Troy B. and sons shopping for groceries in the super market, one wanting hot dogs, one wanted prunes and the other just wanting, which reminds me when my bovs were about 2 and 4 I was shopping in J. I called it a day right then. Bill and Ellen W. holding hands the usual way walking around the square. Frances B. and her lovely daughters in and out getting ready for Christmas. James Price's cute little daughter waiting to walk home from work with daddy. Well, we won't get a week for Christmas but won't take me long to do my shopping because I only have 3 books of green stamps. Now what can I get? Oh. I will tell you later. Grace just came in and said I owed her orie book. I am sorry to report Janet Cauble is in the hospital but she is much better. Ann \V. and myself visited her tonight. Guess she will be back at work bv the time you read this. Elsewhere in the Clothmaker you will see a picture of Darrcll White. Handsome, isn't he? I remember well when his mother. Ellen, was my battery filler. She was a very sweet and kind person, she was about sixteen then and me. well. I will not tell you how old I was then, but I will say I had not heard of rock & roll then. Oh. yes. I have found out why the Navy ordered buttons sewed on sleeves of the uniforms, and that a person's ears never stop growing, and that heeman ha'r grows 1 quarter of an inch in two weeks. Well, I must stop and go to bed. I am afraid I will sleep too late for work and if 1 did 1 would shoot myself before my debtors did. No kidding.
