JANUARY, 1957 We regret very much to re port the death of one whc worked on this shift, Mr. Arthur Hillman. It is sad to lose a loved one. Our prayers gt up for his family. Mr. Horace O. Smith, a former second shift doffer, has returned to work and has been transferred to the firsl shift. Everybody enjoyed Christmas and it seems Santa Claus was good to all. My sister, Mrs. J. G. RECITAL Mrs. Thomas Crisp presented her piano pupils in rec i t a 1 in the Community Building at Lydia Thursday evening. December 13th. After the program, the group enjoyed musical games and Carol singing. Refreshments of sandwiches, potato chips, cookies and drinks were served. Gifts were exchanged under the lovely decorated tree. The invited guests were mothers of the pupils. Womans' Club Ch The Clinton Mills Woman's Club, with their husbands, held its annual Christmas banquet on December 13. at the Community center. The center was decorated for the Yuletide season. Mrs. E. P. Taylor, president, welcomed members and guests and Mr. Claude Crocker gave the invo "ition. After a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, everyone enjoyed singing Christmas carols. All were invited into the living room where an Ed Sullivan show was given by local talent. Ed Sullivan was portrayed by Mr. Calvin Cooper. The program consisted of "The Fred Waring Singers"? Miss Linda Stewart, Miss Nellie Osborn. Miss Barbara Alexander, Miss Polly Brazil, Mrs. Eva West and Mrs. Eva Land, accompanied by Miss Marv Cunningham. Miss Universe and Miss America were Mr. J. V. Lowe and Mr. Allan Powers. E. L. Bible Class on December 11, at the Community Building. At the close of the program Mrs. Eva West presented Mrs. Taylor, president of the club, with a gift from the club. s Party tS f The Class decided to send iove gifts to three members of the class. Devotions and carol singing were enjoyed by all. Cherry games and entertainment was directed by Mrs. Paul Foster. Surprise rollvanna gifts were exchanged bv the members of the class. Love gifts were presented to Mrs. Eva Land, teacher, and Mrs. Marvin Whitmire, assistant teacher. Miss Cora Stone, was also presented a special gift from the class.
