JANUARY 15. 1954 Clinton Women Have Xmas Party The Clinton Mills Womans Club enjoyed a delightful Christmas banquet at Academy Street Cafeteria December 15. The invocation was given bv Rev. J. W. Spillers, followed by a candlelight ceremony led by Albert Lancaster and Mrs. Joe Land. A medley of Christmas music was given by Mrs. Land and Solovox selections were given by Jackie Franks. A 1 * * .n. Ljuui iL-i cuinpusua 01 mrs. J. J. West, Benny Huev, Joan Burgess and Jackie Franks presented carols. Pantomine selections included "I saw mama kissing Santa Claus" by the A. C. Young family and "Let it snow, let it snow," by Jackie Franks and Bonnie Huev. Instrumental music was given by Kay Mills and Dorsey Turner. George H. Cornelson introduced the speaker of the evening, Haynie G. Prince, dean of freshmen at Presbyterian College who spoke on the real meaning of Christmas. The club presented gifts to Mrs. Land and the president, Mrs. Sadie Powers, in auore ciation for their services during the year. Teen-Age Canteen Has Yule Party The newly organized LydiaTeen-Age Canteen had their Christmas party in the recreation room of Providence School. The room was attractively decorated in the Christmas theme. Mrs. Wallace led the group in singing several Christmas songs. Square dancing, round dancing and folk dancing was enjoyed. Santa appeared and passed out gifts from the Christmas tree. Delightful refreshments with punch was served by Mrs. Addison Neighbors, Mrs. Wallace, Mrs. Ray Fuller, Mrs. Burl Allen, Burl Allen and George Fleming. T Lydia Women Name Officers The Lydia Woman's Club held their Christmas meeting at the Community Center. In the .absence of the president, Mrs. R. E. Whitmire, vicepreside.it, presided. Mrs. E. C. Burdett read the Christmas story from Isaiah and Luke. Mrs. Earl Hamrick. chairman of the nominating committee, gave her report, and the following of ficers for next year were elected: President, Mrs. Floyd Poole; Vice-President, Mrs. Charles Gaffney; Secretary, Mrs. Joe Cor ley; Treasurer, Mrs. Claude Sims, and Program Director, Miss Mary Johnson. Miss Margaret Blakely and Mrs. Wallace are advisors for the club. The names of the Lydia Sisters were revealed and gifts were exchanged. The hostess committee served fruitcake and coffee. Clinton Cubs Are Registered Again Clinton Mills Cub Scout Pack No. 1118 has been reregistered for the year of 1954 with Dan Dunawav and Glenn Downs again serving as Cubmaster and assistant Cubmaster. Committee members for the pack are J. V. Lowe, Chairman and Rufus King. Chuck Leatherwood is Institutional Representative. Although not all new nrosnppt? .. I 1 have registered yet, the pack has almost doubled in strength and interest during the past year. Many fine outings and entertainments are planned for this year and any new boys wishing to join should contact Mr. Dunawav or Mr. Leatherwood right away. Registration dues are 50 cents for the year. WHY NOT? We can't be happy one hundred per cent of the time ?life does present its problems. But it doen't cost a penny more to smile?and a smile makes the job go easier. Caughman Christmas was a nice one for Second Shift Spinning, judging by all the smiles when we returned to work n i ? . . . oania was up in our uepartment the night before we closed handing out gifts and Harry Foster, even without a beard, made a good Santa Claus. There were also two special gifts presented to Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Lawson for having the best attendance record for the year. Cecil has worked two full years without losing a day and Mary worked all but 15 days which was the best record for the women. They were given $5.00 each for their fine records. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Osborne and children visited relatives and friends in Aiken during the holidays. The Daniel Osbornes, Mrs. Mary Osborne and Jack Osborne and son visited Woodrow Osborne in Columbia Veterans hospital. Pat Osborne celebrated her third birthday with a kindergarten party. Mr. and Mrs. Noah Scott and family spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Scott in Gastonia, N. C. Robert Scott had his fifth birthday this month. Mrs. Nellie Wilson and family visited friends in Union. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Hanley spent Christmas with her mother and father in Greenville. Mrs. Uertrude George visited a sick relative in Henderson ville. William, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shepherd, has returned to Jacksonville after a visit here. Miss Dennie Saxton. niece of Annie Milam, was married to James Crov December 23. Timothy Ed Heaton was four December 2 . . . John Anthony Foster had a birthday December 30. Furman Johnson, husband of Mrs. Margaret Johnson, is home after spending several days in an Anderson hospital.
