Right now, there are VIP, Blackboard, listservers and other individual and academic resources. Once OneCarolina is complete, it’s basically a one-stop shop. You will be able to better manage and organize all of your electronic activities.” Updating resources also pushes us where we need to be in terms of having the latest and best technology on campus, South said. A new teaching and learning center is developing under OneCarolina, which will focus on improving instructional use of digital resources and information technology tools. Sorensen said implementation has also begun on an electronic calendaring, unified e-mail and IT directory system that will reflect USCs One University, One Network philosophy, according tc a USC IT Bulletin. Completion of OneCarolina will produce a standard computei system that serves the needs of each department on campus, South said. It will run off a single database, Oracle, so departments can easily share information and communicate more efficiently. South said IT services is in the process of selecting a vendor to provide software for the development. “Once the vendor is selected, then we will know a lot more information. This should be done by potentially August 01 September.
