Bourne CONTINUED FROM PAGE 7 obscures the impressive fight choreography to the point that the audience can’t see what the fighters are doing; yet when he did shoot the scene more clearly, it is very obvious that the shot is contrived. This is a very violent movie, and although the violence is plot driven, it seems slightly too graphic for a PG-13 movie. There is very little cursing and no nudity, but the amount and vivid nature of the violence seems to call for an R rating. For a mature audience however, “The Bourne Identity” delivers. That presence culminated with “WYSIWYG,” a release that was voted one of the worst albums of 2000 by USA Today. They do deserve some recognition for not totally retreating after such a reception. However, even if “Readymades” was graded on effort it would not rise above a “D.” Though the lyrics invoke and preach against all that is non-PC, they never touch the listener on an emotional or intellectual level. This problem could be mitigated with outstanding musical performances; however, you’ll find very little that is outstanding here. “Salt Fare, North Sea” is an ambient dance tune that is perfect for dance clubs but inappropriate for a bunch of middle-aged rebels. In a completely different vein, Chumbawumba also drops “Without Rhyme or Reason” into the works, a folk song reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkel. Mentioning the names of the band members would be ridiculous since there are 17 performers on the album playing instruments ranging from a ukulele to someone scratching Johnny Welfare, The Dispossed, Lights for Nero and more. Although this shows a wide musical talent and knowledge, the electronic beats drown out everything to a whimper. “Readymades” is a death rattle for a group that began their slow demise after the release of their only American hit, “Tubthumping.” These one-hit wonders have dug a deep hole for themselves, and it will take a shovel a lot more dynamic than “Readymades” to dig up some record sales.
