This year's draft marked the first time the Gamecocks have had more than two players go before the sixth round. The five USC selections tied the highest number of players from the school that have been drafted in, one year. The last time Carolina had five players drafted was in 1988, when the NFL draft had 12 rounds instead of seven. USC players who didn't get drafted but might sign a free-agent deal with NFL teams include Kenny Harney, Phil Petty and Brian Scott. Carolina's in-state rival Clemson suffered in this year's draft, as none of its players were drafted. The Tigers' most notable undrafted player is former Heisman Trophy candidate Woody Dantzler.
