The award is reserved for the coaches of each sport that make a positive difference in their team both on the field and off. Highly prestigious, because of all the coaches of a particular sport, the coach of the year is the best of them all. A Coach of the Year is the best recruiter, motivator, mentor and friend in their particular sport. Their success is translated not only in wins and losses, but also in GPA and team attitude. USC track and field coach Curtis Frye has been that successful.
