Coach of the Year. The award is
reserved for the coaches of each sport
that make a positive difference in their
team both on the field and off.
Highly prestigious, because of all the
coaches of a particular sport, the coach
of the year is the best of them all.
A Coach of the Year is the best
recruiter, motivator, mentor and friend
in their particular sport. Their success
is translated not only in wins and losses,
but also in GPA and team attitude.
USC track and field coach Curtis
Frye has been that successful.
"I try to be an example to kids to

opportunities into gold medals, not just
in athletics but in life and in their
relationships with other people," Frye
said.
For the coach's school, the award
brings hope and promise for a bright
future. It not only shows success for the
individual, but also success for the school.
The recognition I've gained is kind Unive
of a reward to the system," Frye said. % ^
That pride and success is beaming
out of Columbia and USC. Frye was
named both the United States Olympic Commit
(USOC) National Coach of the Year and the Uni
States of America Track and Field (USATF) Cot
of the Year.
