Before joining Auburn's art department as chairman in 1995, Lyon was an art professor at Louisiana State University. He has held prestigious artist-in-residence positions at the Sculpture Space Inc. in Utica, N.Y., the Banff Center in Alberta, Canada, and the Kohler Company in Kohler, Wis.
