At the Bamett Bank Invitational, junior Marvin Watts won the 400 meters with an NCAA provisional mark of 47.63. Watts has already qualified for the 800 meters. Riian Dempers was second at 47.87. At 17-5 overall and 11-0 in the SEC, the Gamecocks can seal a firstround bye in the SEC Tournament and break the school record for most consecutive victories in one season. A win would be USC's sixth road SEC victory, matching the number the Gamecocks tallied in their first five years in the SEC. For the Gamecocks to be successful, they must be able to handle the tough Georgia defense. UGA holds opponents to 63.6 points per game and only 37.5 field goal percentage (first in SEC).
