8 USC plays I BRYAN JOHNSTON Asst. Sports Editor ihe 199b bhC Womens Volleyball lournament is coming to Columbia in just two days and is bringing with it some of the best volleyball action around. Starting Friday at 9 a.m., Southeastern Conference volleyball will invade the New Facility and the Sol Blatt P.E. Center. Carolina will be looking for their first SEC volleyball championship ever. The Lady Gamecocks will also be looking to give the University their first-ever championship in any sport. Since joining the conference in 1991, no team has brought a championship trophy back to Columbia. South Carolina is the only team in the SEC , not to win any championships in any sport. The Lady Gamecocks advanced to the semifinals the past two years, only to lose to eventual champion Florida. This year, if Carolina is to meet up with the number one Florida, it won't be until the championship match on Sunday. Carolina beat Mississippi State and Louisiana State last year before falling to Florida 3-0. In 1994, the Lady gamecocks defeated Mississippi State and Alabama before falling to Clemson UNC Ashville T South Carolina St. S Charleston Southern S Furman N Auburn S Tennessee ^ Special distubution of studen Monday ,Dec. 2 and Tuesday a.m. until 4 p.m. Validation on cash.
