The term is vague and often leaves people confused. But the fact is, the guidelines for good nutrition and a balanced diet are quite simple and require, in most cases, only moderate changes in current eating habits. But if it is so simple to follow a few guidelines, then why is the American population still so malnourished? Today's lifestyle contributes to bad eating habits. Everyone's always on the go, therefore we are always eating fast food. No one seems to have time for a family sitdown dinner. Because we crash diet and try all the gimicks to lose weight, when all we realty need to do is eat a more balanced diet. The fact of the matter is we are not eating a balanced diet. And even though nutritionists recommend a balanced diet rather than a vitamin-mineral supplement, it seems impossible in today's world to get our daily nutrient needs through the food that we eat. So, why not take a pill? Because vitamin-mineral supplements are a multibillion dollar industry, it has people talking that we really don't need them and that it is all a money-making scam.
