South Carolina ends the season 22-10 and 86 in the SEC. It was South Carolina's first appearance in the semifinals of the SEC tournament since joining the SEC in 1991. The Lady Gamecocks held the lead until the last event, when they were passed by LSU in the 400-meter relay. "Our women's team is really strong this year," senior Alison Klinakis said. "There is a lot of good senior leadership as well as talent from the underclassmen." Jay Telford of USC won the 1000yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. Telford, a sophomore, won over LSU last year as well. "I wasn't sure that I would win again, but I was sure that it would be a close race," Telford said. "Most of our team are underclassmen who haven't had that much experience yet," senior co-captain Mark Dicus said. "This has been one of our best meets."
