Tbbbs takes new challenge t ~ Longtime University of Oklahoma basketball coach Billy Tubbs announced Saturday that he will leave the Sooners to become the new coach at Texas Christian University. "I saw a lot of enthusiasm out there, though we're nowhere close to being ready to play an SEC opponent" Williamson led the Black squad to a touchdown on the game's first series. Williamson and Joe Troupe completed a flea flicker and connected with Kurt Frederick for a 41-yard touchdown pass. Williamson was taken out of the game after the touchdown because of a separated shoulder. He completed three of four passes for 48 yards on the drive. Williamson had surgery Sunday and will need eieht weeks of rehabilitation. Walk-on Brian Autry, a freshman from Spring Valley High School, took over the Black squad offense for the remainder of the game. He completed six of 12 passes for 67 yards. Autry also turned a busted play into a 17-yard gain, scrambling to the one-yard line on his second series at quarterback. USC lost one set on the afternoon as it posted its fifth singles and doubles sweep on the season. The White squad put two points on the board when Maynard Caldwell sacked Autry in his end zone. Taneyhill connected with Monty Means for a 91-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. The duo hooked up again for the two-point conversion that put the White squad up 10-7. Scott had Taneyhill in the shotgun, instituting the coach's explosive offense for the Gamecocks. The Black squad tied the game with Marc Saylor's 34-yard field goal at the end of the third quarter. Ronnie Smith put the Black squad in position io win tne game wnen ne intercepted a Taneyhill pass with less than a minute left in the game. The interception put the Black squad on the White seven-yard line.
