o f _t_ Cayce's doughnu fun for students, By SUSAN GOODWIN Staff Writer for more than 13 years, Betty Glenn has learned about the nature of college students simply by watching their behavWhile the 53-year-old hasn't spent hours researching in a psychoanalytic lab, she has worked somewhere inherendy closer to Generation X. Krispy Kreme. "College students never want to share," Glenn said. "I tell them about the specials we run, but they'd rather spend their own money even though they could go in together and get the doughnuts cheaper. And I think, 'Gee, what are you all doing?"' In all her experiences at a Greenville store and the year-and-a-half-old Cayce store, Glenn has noticed other trends in the actions of campus packs. "I can usually tell when midterms come around even without being told," Glenn said. "Students bring their books more and study more." Though one of the attractions is the ability to watch the doughnuts being made on an assembly line, the 24-hour nature of Krispy Kreme is a larger factor for some of the more nocturnallyinclined. As for who's the better customer, Glenn isn't aking any sides. "Both of them are because they both just kind )f hang out," she said.
