Disappo By CHARLIE TISDALK Staff Writer Steve Newton's reign as head coach of the USC's men's basketball team came to a disappointing end this past weekend at the SEC Tournament as Alabama beat the Gamecocks, 86-70. Newton's twoyear record at USC was 20-35. The team ended the 1992-93 season just like they finished the year before's campaign under Steve Newton. In the '91-'92 year, the Gamecocks could only win three of their last 18 g;unes.
