JSt .** The Lady Gamecocks swimming Bass more By MORRIE LYLES Staff Writer . The Lady Gamecock basketball team is enjoying their success this season. A large part of their success is due to the play of guard Nikki Bass. The Lady Gamecocks are 13-7 overall and 4-4 in the Southeastern Conference. Bass, who chose South Carolina over the University of Florida, played high school basketball at Newberry (Fla.) High where her father was the coach. During her senior year, she averaged 20 points and 10 assists per game in leading Newberry to a 22-2 record. "Playing for my father was tough because he made me play up to my potential, making my goals easier to achieve," Bass said. Bass said she loves to intimidate players with her defense.
