Texas team poisoned in arena By The Associated Press Two Texas A&M assistant basketball coaches were among eight people treated in a hyper baric oxygen chamber Sunday for carbon monoxide poisoning. They were overcome Saturday night when an arena heater system malfunctioned at Baylor's Ferrell Center. Aggies senior foward Anthony Ware also was treated, but because he suffered from a sinus infection, doctors had to remove him from the decompression chamber after a short time, said Dr. David Turner, who accompanied the patients in the chamber at Humana Hospital-Medical City Dallas. The patients' prognoses for speedy recoveries were good, doctors said. The nine patients were expected to be released Monday after psychological and psychometric testing and a night of observation, said Humana spokeswoman Ellen Lytle. The Texas A&M team, game officials and others were taken to two hospitals in Waco, Texas, Saturday night after being overcome by fumes in the visitors' locker room before their game against Baylor. The arena was eva?cuated and the game postponed. Seven people admitted to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center were flown overnight to Humana including Ware, A&M graduate assistant John Pigatti, official David Hall, Ferrell Center worker Anthony Hazley and A&M assistant sports information director Colin Killian. Also treated were a Baylor student reporter covering the game and a catering service employee who was setting up a press banquet when she was afflicted. Hillcrest treated between 40 and 50 people, nursing supervisor Ann Gammcl said. Assistant A&M coach Mitch Buonaguro, Aggies freshman guard Tony McGinnis and Ferrell Center employee Vincent Young were admitted for observation at Providence Health Center in Waco. Texas. Buonaguro and Young were transferred to Humana overnight. <3 5> | SARULLO'S ITALIANO % 2631 Devine Street (803) 256-4800 Tuesday - Saturday <j| S:00pm until we close S Established 1978 J& located corner of Devine & Woodrow St. first red light up from 5 Points $2.00 OFF any large pizza Limit one per visit (5) offer expires February 15. 1992 \p> ( I 1 BUY Q[ ! p 2 LIZARD'! 2 CORNELL ARM q buy ONE meal and ge 0 (Does n< 1 OFFEF FOR E I ?
