C acteristics that set them apart from 1 other clubs and organizations. 1 They are distinct individuals united and bound together by common ' goals, values and ideals. 5 The Greek system at USC has ( existed for more than 140 years. In < / that time, many stereotypes have * J emerged. i The clone syndrome seems to be - an obvious indicator when search- * ing for fraternity men and sorority 1 women on campus. Jerry Brewer, v director of student life, says that as ^ a stereotype, "Greeks tend to be very conservative." They seem to represent the aver- * ^ age student in political views, ^ dress and current trends. Brewer j3 " says even though "they are called ][ preppy, they are really more mainstream." c Similar fashion trends are often ^ negatively regarded by students S( outside of the Greek community.
