The provost, who also serves as vice president of academic affairs, will have more responsibilities under Palms' structure. George Reeves, dean of USC's Graduate school, will head the office until a replacement is found for Arthur Smith. Smith was recently named president of the University of Utah. Reporting to Reeves in the meantime will be: Martin Soloman, vice provost for Computer Services. John Duffy, vice provost for Regional Campuses and Continuing Education. Pepsi will eplace Coca-Cola, which has [uenched the thirst of Carolinians 'or ten years. The switch to Pepsi, which will ake about three weeks to compete, gives Pepsi a substantial porion of USC's soft drink business. Under the new contract, USC vill gain about $100,000 more in jrofits, the majority of which will und scholarships, chair professorihips and fund-raising activities. Pepsi will also be served at the Carolina Coliseum and Koger Cen er fountains, but Coke still will be ivailable at Williams-Brice Stalium and at all food service outlets m the Columbia campus.
