Professors pi By ERIKA JOHNSON Staff Writer Professors, pressured into a relationship they do not agree with, feel the effects of the support USC is giving the Savannah River Site, a USC professor said Wednesday. USC is supporting not only the research facility, but the mission of the plant, which is to produce nuclear weapons materials, USC Government and International Studies Professor Peter Sederberg said to Students Allied for a Greener Earth. "No, we're not making bombs," Sederberg said, "We're trying to resolve the problems this plant has left the people of South Carolina." Sederberg said the advantages of such a relationship are the financial resources available for the university, a reputation for the relationship with SRS and a service to humanity. But he said the university has a responsibility to do something about cleaning up the plant, because USC is a public service university. Sederberg's main concern is the effect the relationship has on the faculty. Some faculty members believe they are being pressured into a Crime Survey Horseshoe, Russell House and "All I c parking lots and garages getting stats," Stol the most concern. show that But Stokes said the Safety Com- in the gara mittee and the campus police keep dalisms ar a close watch on lighting. violent crii "The police make a monthly One-fifl survey of all lights, marking those ported the) fixtures that are burned out," he defense w< said.
