You probably were part of one once, the first time you came to campus to see if you really wanted to spend four (or more) years here. How would you like to lead one? The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is recruiting interested students for a new campus organization, the Carolina Tour Guide Association, to introduce prospective students and their parents to campus. "We want student volunteers who are enthusiastic, who care about Carolina ? who have had a good experience here and want to share it," said Kim Adams, admissions graduate assistant "We want to use students from the Carolina community because they know what it's like out there. They know about the majors and the organizations, what Carolina life is like," she said. Adams said admissions offers hour-long walking tours twice daily during the week and once on Saturdays. Presently, the tours are led by admissions counselors and some work-study students at the admissions office. The group is being formed so all tours will be led by students. "Giving the tours is fun," Adams, a master's candidate in education, said. "It's neat to walk around campus with the students and their families-. We want prospective students to have a good image of the university, and the Carolina students have first-hand experience." The CTGA will be formed by the end of the semester, Adams said, and its volunteers will begin leading Movies Continued from page 5 liott "made the movie," but that This movie is the movie was mainly for up to be one of "35-year-old housewives with four Christmas season, kids." marketing directoi ney's distributor, # The Little Mermaid: An ani- grossed more than mated children's movie about a weekend, almost $ lithe young mermaid and her many all. adventures. Rebecca Eisner, a psychology senior who works at admissions and leads campus tours, said she accompanied two tours before she led one on her own. "There's a pamphlet of different things to point out," she said. "It's fun to lead ? the parents ask about the university, the majors offered and statistics, and the kids ask about the social life, the greek system and things like that," Eisner said. "It's good because I can answer questions about work-study, since this is a workstudy position I have, and about financial aid." The recruitment effort is going well so far, Adams said. Applications can be picked up at Student Life or the admissions office. Adams said the tours are in demand. "Especially in the spring, the tours are just crammed full of people. They always bring their families with them. There are people calling all the time who want tours.
