Soccer to By BRANT LONG Assistant Sports Editor Four of the nation's premier soccer teams will be playing at The Graveyard this weekend as USC plays host to the third annual Met Life Classic. USC, Akron, Howard and UCLA will be participating in this year's tournament. Of&mtCocItA USC: The Gamecocks, coming off a season that ended in the NCAA semi-finals, are 13-2-2. USC is led by junior Clark Brisson, who has scored 19 goals this season, and freshman Ruben Tufino, who has 14 assists. This past year's leading scorer, Jonas Gudjonsson, is also back on offense. Team captain Tommy Loeber, Scott Henderson and Arnar Jonsson anchor a solid defense, with Chris Foley manning the goalkeeper position. This past year as goalkeeper, he allowed only seven goals in 19 matches. Mike and Irving Williams, Chris Conti and Chris Thomas also look to stop opposing offenses on the defensive side for the Bison. All-America candidate Peter Isaacs leads the offense. In 1988, Isaacs totaled 12 goals and six assists. He is joined by Anthony Laird, Harold Heath and Sheldon Jones. UCLA: The Bruins are led by Sigi Schmid, who is in his tenth year as head coach. With a record of 16-0-1, UCLA is the highestranked team in the tournament at third in the nation.
