Cockfest celt By DAVID BOWDEN and RHONDA GREENE Staff Writers The biggest party of the year is tonight and everyone's invited. With cheering fans, music, dancing, blazing fireworks and live entertainment, Cockfest will celebrate its 19th anniversary. The pre-game pep rally is a show for everyone, Cockfest Director Aubrey Hawes said. Even though the main attraction will be the fireworks, there will be other activities that people will be able to enjoy, he said. For the first time, a comedian will be the master of cereromies for Cockfest. Henry Cho, who has been on HBO, "The Tonight Show" and "Late Night with David Letterman," will v. Other highlights include USC football coach Sparky Woods and the football team, the homecoming court, USC cheerleaders, the marching band, the Southern Belles, Carolina Alive and skits performed by greek organizations. Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma and Zeta Tau Alpha with Chi Psi will present the skits. All skits will be geared around the "Ultimate Spirit of Carolina," this year's homecoming theme. This year's Cockfest will not only be a source of entertainment, but also one for charity. Tickets will be sold at the athletic department and the coliseum ticket offices, and various organizations such as Student Government, Association of Afro-American Students and Pi Kappa Phi fraternity will also have tickets for purchase. All checks can be made out to the Salvation Army or American Red Cross. Hawes hopes Cockfest will have a turn out of 25,000. "What will help our publicity is the Hurricane Hugo relief. Hawes said Cockfest is getting bigger and better every year and he hopes to continue the tradition. "It's not just for students," he said. "It includes the community and anyone who's a Gamecock fan."
