The Black Swan Quartet, a group combining the rich textures of chamber strings with the structured and improvisational forms of jazz, will perform Saturday at the Koger Center. Billed as "jazz's most exotic bird," the quartet plays jazz classics as well as original compositions. The group uses unconventional instruments to execute pieces that are classical in nature, but borrow liberally from jazz. There are blues passages, African rhythms and American melodies.
