Infinity means that a person cannot in one lifetime ? or even several ? count how many of a particular something exist. To give you an idea of just what infinity is ? it is how many stars there are on a clear night; it is how many Nerf footballs that have been chewed up by those funny-looking weiner dogs since the invention of foam rubber; it is the amount of Donald Trump's assets; it is how many times over the next few days that you will curse every teacher you've ever had for getting you to college and college exams; it is how many times over Christmas vacation you'll kinda sorta want to sock your parents; and it is even a stereo amplifier/speaker company in Chatsworth, Calif. ill cailiorma, inlinuy Systems Inc. is holding a national contest for colleges and universities, in which 20 pairs of their RS 2000 loudspeakers will be awarded to selected college departments and research facilities. According to the brochure, "The RS 2000 is a compact two-way loudspeaker designed to deliver high intensity, low distortion sound in a wide variety of environments: large or small rooms, on bookshelves or on pedestals." The applications should be no more than two typewriter pages and should include the applicant's name, department/field of research, address and phone number and the name of the department head. For those who don't have department heads and fields of research, yet would still like to have a pair of speakers, the rather-antiquated-but-neverquite-out-of-vogue Lying Method is a possibility. The 20 contest entries describing the most innovative use of Infinity's RS 2000s in a classroom or research application will be selected. Deadline is Dec. 31. Send your entries to: Richard Baccigaluppi, Vice President of Marketing, Infinity Systems Inc., 9409 Owensmouth, Chatsworth, Calif. 91311 OK, but what does the word really mean? According to Webster's, infinity is "an indefinitely large quantity," which probably means the number of leaves on the trees, or how much water is in the ocean, or how many times Timothy Leary tripped acid. To those two guys in the picture, Infinity's cofounders Cary Christie (left) and Arnie Nudell, the word means mooooolah ? loads and loads of it. Infinity Systems, Inc. grosses more than $60 million a year. Some have it easy. Have patience and maybe you will all be wealthy. There are, after all, a few stars to wish on. :asy listening best.
