The Stanford Cardinals, the Indiana Hoosiers, the Air Force Falcons and USC were the four teams participating in the two-day event. The fans were treated to two overtime matches, which ended in ties as the talent was evenly matched this year. Only Air Force lost matches in the tournament. Match one, on Saturday, pitted Indiana against Stanford. Defense dominated the game, with neither team scoring in regulation or the two overtimes. Saturday's second match saw USC take on Air Force. John Joust put the Falcons on the board first at the 14:35 mark in the first half when he took a pass from teammate Chris Foster and drove it in the goal. The Gamecocks evened the score with 11:03 gone in the second half. Billy McMullan threw the ball to Pat Walsh, who in turn sent it to Phil Seidenburg. Seidenburg put a shot past the keeper to record the goal, tying the score. USC scored the winning goal with 7:20 left in the match off a free kick rrom midheld. Jen Love crossed the ball to Walsh, who headed it to Jonas Gudjonnson. Gudjonnson drove a header into the net for the win. In the first match Sunday, Air Force took on Stanford. The first half was a defensive struggle for both teams as they tried to find their rhythm. A one minute letdown in the second half by the Air Force defense cost the Falcons the match.
