Humble By KEVIN ADAMS Sports editor Alright, alright, what can I say? I picked Georgia over my very own school, and my very own school creamed, no, ran over, no, demolished, Georgia, 23-10. Sorry, guys. But let's look at the bright side. I did say that USC would score 23 points. I just overestimated the Bulldogs' score by a couple of touchdowns. It seems I have several options after this debacle. i. ciaim temporary insanity. < 2. Claim that Joe Lee Dunn reproduced my column to 50 times its normal size, pasted it all over the Gamecock locker room and used it to , motivate his defense to play one of 1 their best games ever. (I like that | one.) 3. Vow to pick the Gamecocks in every other game this season ? this is the most likely alternative. 4. Pick Florida State and Clemson over USC, in hopes that the trend of blowing the big games continues, and that my picks against USC continue to inspire Dunn and his defense. (See No. 2.) For the week, the record was a paltry 14-6, a .700 percentage. One of the wins, however, was the upset special, as The Citadel beat Navy, 42-35. Center and will play at home in their next match against UNC-Charlotte on Wednesday. Golfers prepared for fall The USC men's golf team will be competing in three events this fall. I The Gamecocks will be at the Butler National Golf Club in Oakbrook, 111., from Oct. 2-4 to compete in the Butler Invitational Intercollegiate.
