That slogan has been heard quite frequently over the radio and television. For senior Darryl Martin, a 6-foot-7-inch center for the ' ^LlSC basketball team, the Army was a great place to start. Martin began his basketball career not in high school, like most college athletes, but in the military. His height was the advantage and the main reason he began shooting hoops. "My brother always told me I should play basketball because of my size, Martin said. As for his future, Martin stated, "I want to graduate first and then possibly go to the NBA. It's a long shot right now, but the thought of playing on that level excites me." Head basketball coach George Felton and the Gamecock team will rely on Martin this season as a team leader. He has been elected by his teammates as the team captain.
