UUllllUO spring j Crowd si as Game By JEFF SHREWSBURY Sports editor In 1986, it was the 4,run-and shoot" offense, but at this year's spring football game, it was the "50" defense that dominated the action at Williams-Brice Stadium. But "dominated" doesn't begin to describe what the defenses did at the springpractice-ending Garnet and White game Friday. With 15,500 people looking on, the Gamecocks got a chance to show what their new defense would be like, but may have done more defending than head coach Joe Morrison had counted on. The game ended with the Garnet team winning 2 0, and, as with tradition, the winning team got steak for dinner, while the losers ate hot dogs and beans. "Our kicking game got a little more work tonieht than we an iticipatcd," Morrison said in his >post-game news cc^ference. "But, all in all, I saw some fine ^ individual performances out W there tonight. I thought we had an excellent spring practice."
