BARR Business stiitor 9 Rental stores service many on-campus students as well as off-campus students with items such as bedroom suites and sofas and chairs, said Mark Nance, Aaron rental store manager. Nance said students make up 35 percent to 40 per cent of his total amount of customers a year. "Usually on-campus things would include sofas and chairs for fraternity houses and bedroom furniture for dorms," Nance said. For USC students, bars and bedroom suites are the most popular items rented from Aaron, Nance said. "Students are not popular for television rentals." However, for Showtime and Ace rental comgfe panies, the small margin of the on-campus market ^ prefer television and stereos. Wright said students usually rent 19-inch televisions, videocasette recorders or stereos for about one or two weeks at a time except for Super Bowl weekend when Showtime has a large demand for large-screen televisions, which can be rented for $99.99 for the entire weekend. ii/lcnn caiH Hnrm ctnH#?ntc liciinlli; cr\lit tViA nv_ "uu 'u" OMIV. He said about 5 percent of the furniture Aaron rents to students is returned damaged and 50 percent of the students "pay lousy," but said he understands college students because he was once one himself. Bedroom suites are Aaron's most popular item this year, Nance said. A student can get a bed, a dresser with a mirror, a lamp and nightstand for about $22.80 a month, but Aaron does require the student to have a credit reference and to list either his job or his parent's job.
