Stockbroker Raymond Strohl hopes to reap dividends from a Civil War bond he bought for $500, but the state of Ohio says it's only worth a nice frame. The $3,000 bond was issued in 1864 by the state to help finance its contribution to the Northern cause. It matured in 1871 and carried an annual interest rate of 6 percent. Strohl figures the bond is worth $3.5 million, but state officials have ruled the state has limited liability for such old debts. Inmates caught after helicopter escape SACRAMENTO, Calif. ? The prison sweethearts who staged a daring helicopter escape from a federal prison earlier this month were arrested Saturday at a shopping mail, the U.S. Marshal's office said. Ronald J. Mcintosh and Samantha Dorinda Lopez were arrested without incident at the Birdcage Walk mall, in Citrus Heights, about 3:20 p.m., said Deputy U.S. Marshal, Rick Damiano. A nationwide manhunt for the couple was launched after Mcintosh allegedly flew a hijacked helicopter into a recreation yard at the Federal Correctional Institution in Pleasanton, Calif., on Nov. 5, picked up Mrs. Lopez from the prison yard, and flew away. m mm I ******** ATTEN1 ******** ClASS The Air Force h gram for 1987 you can enter < Applications for alter gioduatio for the results ( Editor-in-chief - sioning, you'll OI internship at a medical facility The Gamecock to prepare ol experiences for Spring 1987 VSIIIWI. He said USC's distinguished visiting professor program has been rewarding. "We've had a lot of very fine results from it. For instance, at this particular time there's some 720 research projects here at the university and we feel like some of those projects probably came here as a result of Mrs. Sadat being a resource of information," Wienges said. "We have endorsed the program because it enriches the program and it brings distinguished people here and it's just an increase in resources," he said. Board member Paul Goldsmith of Greenville said he agrees that a policy needs to be set regarding distinguished visiting professors, but he said the policy should have a lot of leeway. He said the policy should also identify where the funds should come from to pay the visiting professors. LISTEN TO . . .
