Letters I I Student disliked Turner column To the Sports editor: ? ! ( I am a USC student/athlete I! writing in concern with the article about Pat Turner. j I feel the article that Tracy Mixson wrote was totally uncalled for. As a fellow athlete 1 can comprehend what Pat was i feeling. No one knows what pressures, frust rat ions, and letdowns athletes go through ? but j athletes. To be plagued with in juries is one of the hardest things to deal with. To know that you are a good player and work hard ; and then not get the chance to play, is pure frustration. Maybe Pat just wanted to play the sport he loves ? football. Is it that wrong for him to want to play? ; As for Irving to get attention? 1 ! seriously doubt that. 1 think Pat respects Todd Ellis as a player and 1 am sure the feeling is mutual ! om ciirp P'll more playing time, but is that not J i natural? Doesn't everyone want j to do/play what they work hard at all their lives? As for if the "plan" worked ? this "plan" just might have made j the coaches realize what they j were about to lose! North Carolina State, which plays USC Nov. 1, returned to The Associated Press college football poll for the first time in nearly seven years Tuesday. But the debut at No. 20 did little to stii the emotions in the Wolfpack camp. i "I his learn has an excellent attitude. I talked ir. several players today. They were saying we finally broke into the top 20, but we can't get a big head about ourseies," said Scott Wilson, a junior oui side linebacker who has been at defensive tackle and quarterback in two previous seasons.
