He accomplished this feat at Rutgers, Utah, Duke and USC. Four USC swimmers finished in the top 20 in their events. Gary Benfield placed 13th in the 200-yard backstroke and in the 400-yard individual medley. In the 100-yard individual butterfly, Wade Kin? finished 11th with a time of 48.70. Greg Peoples finished 16th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:38.31. USC came in 13th in the 800-yard freestyle with a time of 6:34.31.
