USC's Cocky was chosen as one of four finalists from around the United States. Northwestern's Willie the Wildcat, Mississippi's Johnny the Rebel and Georgia Tech's Buzz make up the rest of the national finalists. Contestants were required to submit a video tape of themselves in action and the finalists were chosen from those submissions. Sponsored by the Universal Cheerlcading Association and the Ford Motor Company, this national contest will be be shown on ESPN on Mar. 22 at 2 p.m., then uii iviai. tv ai o p.m. Although this is the first national competition for mascots, Cocky has been chosen as the best mascot for the past four years at the UCA cheerleading camp at Virginia Tech. Triathalon set for end of April The Carolina Triathalon will be run April 26 on the USC campus. Sponsored by the intramural department, the three-event competition will consist of a onequarter mile swim at the Blatt i P.E. Center pool, a five-mile bike ride and a two-mile run.
