In the third game of the home stand, USC slipped past Metro opponent Memphis State 69-62 to extend its winning streak to three games. A 16-point loss to Tennessee snapped the Lady Gamecocks' winning streak at home, 70-54. On the road again, the Lady Gamecocks dropped three of their next four games, losing to New Orleans 79-73 in overtime, Southern Mississippi 63-62 and Mississippi State 57-51. USC beat Tulane 72-67 on Jan. 11. In the Southern Mississippi game, Brantley Southers, previously five-for-five from the free-throw line, missed the front end of a one-and-one that gave USM a one-point victory in Hattiesburg.
