USC head football coach Toe Morrison, who directed his team to a 10-1 record this season and a No. 7 ranking, has been named the Walter Camp Football Foundation's 1984 Coach of the Year. The selection of Morrison, who reversed last year's 5-6 record, was announced Saturday by Walter Camp Foundation President Vincent Farricielli. Prior to coaching, the 1959 Univer- C sity of Cincinnati graduate had a VJ 14-year career with the New York DC Giants of the NFL. He missed eight ^ games during his professional career ,. and is second on New York's list of ? career touchdown passes, receptions and all-time scoring, he was a Giant ^ captain for seven years and team most valuable player three times. Walter Camp, a former Yale player and coach, is recognized by some as 11 the father of American football.
