The monument glistens in the S.C. sun in the alternate red and blaek livery of USC. It has more than 4,000 horsepower and a value of more than one-quarter of a H million dollars. The monument is 25 M brand new Camaros lined up in alterII nating red and black colors. "We really didn't plan it that way." John Wise of Love Chevrolet said. "Red and black just happen to be the best sell?|| ing colors for the Camaro. After the |f| Gamecocks started having a good season III we decided it would be nice to line the red and black ones up on the front row." "THEY'VE EVEN jeen buying these lamps we've had here for over a year that nobody has bought before. We've had to reorder several times. ' It's not just off campus. Students can't stop and talk for longer than a few seconds without discussing the team. Tuesday morning conversations are reserved for pondering our position in the polls and trying tc figure out just which bowl game we'd most like to go to. At games, the student sections are dominated by black. The parking lot is always loaded with Joe Morrison clones dressed in all black with drumsticks and cold beers in their hands. ^ars on me way 10 uic games arc incomplete without spirit flags and magnetic Gamecocks on the doors. Thousands of chickens have been sacrificed on altars of tons of potato salad in this years' home games. The weather has even graced us with only sunshine in this our shining season. THE EFFECTS of the season have spread. The Alumni Association, the Gamecock Club and admissions office speak of tne positive effect the season has on their efforts. Although none of them have figures yet, they all report increased interest in both the team and the university. Counselors going to high schools to recruit new students report that kids are much more interested in USC. Sec "Season," page 5 )UNDS XX! \ a ' i 11 1. m > lUIff| p !S, The Police, etc...
