Apparently someone placed what police called a military smoke cannister in a garbage can and placed it in the Tower's dorm's elevator and sent the elevator to every floor. He said the hoses had to be placed directly over the can, and didn't extinguish the fire for at least two minutes. Vgf*~ Scotti Bros. The campus radio station received individual pledges between $2 and $50, station secretary Samantha Bryant I rtcim, uiin i^iciytu in c.miiciugc. Bryant said, however, more people pledged to get songs off the air than on. "A lot of people were helpful. We didn't have a television up here, and when they called to pledge they'd tell us the score," she said. Although they didn't have a television, the staff had other essentials. An old black couch waited in the narrow hall outside the WUSC offices for people who had been working up to 12 hours continuously. The Russell House custodians provided plenty of big plastic trash bags, and Domino's delivered pizzas on call. "When you're answering phones you don't realize how hungry you're getting.
