Small fire set in Moore dormitory
A small fire was set in Moore dorm about 11 p.m. Saturday and
extinguished by fifth floor residents with some fire extinguishers
that they said barely worked.
Apparently someone placed what police called a military smoke
cannister in a garbage can and placed it in the Tower's dorm's
elevator and sent the elevator to every floor.
He said the hoses had to be placed directly over the can, and
didn't extinguish the fire for at least two minutes.

About 50 people worked at the station

Area businesses donated food for

Prizes were given away spontaneously

sion personality Joe Pinner had a request.
Phones didn't stop ringing during
Saturday's USv Notre Dame
game, either.
"A lot of people were helpful. We
didn't have a television up here, and
when they called to pledge they'd tell
us the score," she said.
Although they didn't have a television,
the staff had other essentials. An
old black couch waited in the narrow
hall outside the WUSC offices for people
who had been working up to 12
hours continuously. The Russell
House custodians provided plenty of
big plastic trash bags, and Domino's
delivered pizzas on call.
"When you're answering phones
you don't realize how hungry you're
getting. Ihen when the tood comes
you just gorge. We have a rule about
not eating in the studio, but food was
all over the place this weekend."
