September 12, 1984 frJLflJJL !;& ? _____ _ Gamecocks By Ray Gronberg USC 's soccer team will face another squad looking for a post-season tournament bid when Carolina and UNC-Charlotte meet at the Graveyard tomorrow at 4 p.m. Both games in the series between the schools have gone to overtime, with USC taking a 3-2 win last year in Charlotte to avenge 1982's 1-1 tie in Columbia. The Gamecocks (3-1) and 49ers (2-1) are having similar seasons. The Gamecocks have recorded three shutouts, including a 3-0 win over national power Connecticut, while UNCC has notched easy wins over East Carolina and Pfeiffcr. ROAD (iAMKS with powerful Atlantic Coast Conference opponents cost both teams a loss, USC falling to UNC 6-1 and UNCC losing to Duke 4-0. Thursday's game, said UNCC head coach Bob Warming, should be a tightly-played crowd pleaser. "South Carolina has the best team they've had in years," he said. "The games the last two years have featured great college soccer. It's been a great rivalry." UNCC IS much improved, said Warming, from the squad that last year won the Sun Belt Conference championship, defeating 17th-ranked South Florida in the process. ni i (JUIIUAIUUo UUU ruin football gi You know who he is.
