"I don't think anyone knows how pleased 1 was with our performance tonight," he said. "It was a very gutty performance. It was a very emotional game tonight." Players and coaches alike said they thought this game might be the turning point in the season. "We told them in practice all week that we thought we could beat them," Foster said. "This was a great victory for our basketball team. This game will help us in the long run." Many players said the crowd of 9,138 was an important ingredient in the victory. "WE WERE hoping for a big crowd tonight," Jimmy Foster said. "Nobody was sure if a lot of people would show up because we've been in a slump, but they came out and gave us a lot of support. "A fired-up crowd is always going to help, and I think that's just what these people did for us tonight. They're our No. 1 asset." "Toward the end of the game the crowd became pretty vocal," center Mike Brittain said. "I thought it helped us out a lot." Brad Jergenson gave the Carolina crowd credit for a couple of Notre Dame turnovers. Near the end, I thought the fans became so loud that they caused two steals. They were just great the whole game." But the USC head coach said he was the most satisfied with the victory. "I can't say how much of a relief this was for me," Foster said. "I'm so happy for our players, but especially for our fans. They've supported us thoughout the whole thing." Get The Looks That Get The Looks!
