The Gamecocks will take an even record, 4-4, to Doak Campbell Stadium to battle the 13-point favored Seminoles, who rank fourth in the nation in total offense, averaging 474 yards per game. Morrison said he believes to stop such a productive offense, which averages 35 points a game, USC must keep the ball out of the Seminoles' hands. "As long as we have the ball, they can't score," he said. FLORIDA STATE, 5-3, will try to build on its three-game winning streak, highlighted by its 29-26 comeback win over Arizona State this past week. Contained in the Seminoles offense is the nation's fifth leding rusher, Greg Allen. Allen has rushed for 907 yards and 10 touchdowns in eight games this year. "We've seen some good tailbacks this season, and Greg Allen is as good as any we've faced," Morrison said. Although the Seminoles will be without their No. 1 quarterback, Kelly Lowrey, Bowden said he is pleased with backup Bob Davis. After Lowrey left the Arizona State game due to an injury, Davis directed his team to two fourth-quarter touchdowns. The winning drive covered 82 yards in the last minute and a half of the game. Also injured in the Arizona State game was the Seminoles' second leading rusher, Cedric Jones, with 483 yards on 83 carries. He will not play in tomorrow's game. "Florida State could be the most explosive offensive team we will have faced this year," Morrison said." They have so many tools to come at you. They are a very physical football team that is coming off a big victory." Florida State's scoring potential will not be the only offense Morrison has to worry about. During last week's 31-17 victory over N.C. State, Carolina suffered many injuries on its own offensive line. Despite the injuries Morrison said he was pleased with the performance of the offense 0 during the N.C. State game, except for the turnovers. "Any time you can win a ball game you're happy, but all of the turnovers disappointed me," he said. Morrison said the defense has played well all year, especially in providing the team with momentum. "The most pleasing thing has to be their (the defenses') enthusiasm. They just never quit. Like coach Gadd (Tom, defensive coordinator) says, they are like a bunch of fire ants," Morrison said. MCDUFFIE SAID the Florida State J coaching staff has a lot of respect for the Gamecocks, especially defense. "They remind us a lot of Pittsburgh, and they are a very strong, emotional unit," he said.
