Obscene calls not frt From Staff Reports About 10 complaints by Columbia-aree residents have been received during the past four months by the Department ol Psychology about obscene phone calls frorr an individual identifying himself as a studenl conducting a survey for a research project. Telephone surveys are not taken by anyone conducting research in USC's psychology department, department chairman David Clement said. The caller begins with what sounds like legitimate questions before becoming obscene, according to people who received the calls. The calls that have been reported tc USC personnel have come during the da> and evening. Danny Baker, assistant vice president ol USC's Law Enforcement and Safety, suggests individuals living off-campus who receive such calls should notify the telephone company, which has a security division to handle obscene phone calls. Anyone on campus who receives obscene calls should report them to campus police, Baker said.
