Defeats Duke, Appal Women's vi By Tracy Mixson Although USC volleyball coach Elaine Mozingo said her squad was nervous about its season opener, Carolina defeated Duke and Appalachian State universities to post a 2-0 record Saturday. The Lady Gamecocks downed both schools 3-0 in separate best-of-five matches at the Blatt Physical Education Center. "I think we felt the pressure," Mozingo said after the Duke match. "I didn't feel like we were loose and playing like we normally did in practice. Our biggest problem was we were tight. "IT WAS our first match, and everybody's been talking about it, saying we're going to have a winning program this n year. Carolina jumped out quickly against Duke, taking the first game 15-7.
