THE COUNTY council recently voted to shut down a medical emergency out-patient clinic in Hemingway, forcing residents to drive 40 miles to ?i mt ncai cm uuspuai in ivimgu ec, uic county seat. The final blow to Hemingway, however, was two months ago when the Williamsburg County School Board decided to close Batterby Park High School in Kingstree and transfer the school's 300 students to Hemingway High School. The step would double the number of students at the Hemingway school this fall. "We have tried all these years to maintain a good school system," Lawrimore said. "I'm not against in tegration.
