"Remembering the Days: An Illustrated ~e " " " " uiaiury ui me university of South Carolina," by Walter Edgar, Institute for Southern Studies director, and Nancy Ashmore, Institute assistant director, goes on sale Nov. 1. "We even found some of the most valuable ones (photographs) from a trash pile from a university office," Edgar said. Ashmore said sometimes the only indication of the photograph's age was from clothing clues in the photo. She said the compilers tried to find alumni to supply information about the photographs that were difficult to identify. Edgar said it took one year to compile the photographs and information, and another year for production and design. He said USC needs an up-to-date book of its history because until now the most recent one only covered through the 1950s. Edgar said the compilers mainly used v?..Uiu pnwiugidpiis to give a more descriptive view of student life. Some photos have never been published before, according to Edgar.
