"We haven't placed any barriers on providing cable TV to the dormitories," Bud Tibshrany, Columbia Cable Television vice president and general manager, said. Director of Men's Housing David Macaulay said, "We are not against it (cable service in dorm rooms), if it can be worked out economically among the students, the university and the cable company." "My major reason for running is to make sure our views are gotten across to the public," she said. Her campaign will "question the authority" of the incumbent "and that's what the Libertarian Party is all about," she said. Vandervelde coordinates the campus Students for Libertarian Society and chairs the Richland County Libertarian Party. She has never held a public office and said she is "not a politician." Her husband, Steven, a USC graduate student, is vice chairman of the S.C.
