Visit brings protest and praise WASHINGTON (AP) - Amid pageantry and protest, President Reagan gave a warm White House welcome yesterday to Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, praising him as a "recognized force for peace and security in QrmtHoact Asia " Reagan spoke at the start of a five-day state visit by Marcos that is expected to center on security, trade relations and human rights. Marcos was accorded full military honors, including a 21gun salute, as he opened his first official visit here in 16 years. About 75 chanting anti-Marcos demonstrators marched peacefully in front of the White House to protest the visit. (AP) - The City Council has decided it would be unreasonable to require go-go dancers to carry an identification card "on their persons" at all times. Sadegh Ghotbzadeh, the former Iranian foreign minister who fell from favor after opposing spy trials for the American hostages in Tehran, was executed by a firing squad for plotting to topple Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's government, the official - - A 1 Iranian news agency reponeu yesterday. The news agency IRNA said the execution was carried out in Tehran Wednesday night on the basis of a verdict issued by the Army Revolutionary Tribunal and approved by the High Judicial Court. Khomeini were evident in 1979 > when Ghotbzadeh returned home after 20 years abroad on the same airplane as the exiled religious leader and promptly emerged as one of the most powerful men in Iran. He had been one of Khomeini's closest confidants ever since the ayatollah was exiled by tne late Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, in 1963. After 444 days in captivity, the 52 hostages were released Jan. 20, 1981-the day President Reagan took office. During the early months of the hostage crisis, Ghotbzadeh's face became a nightly feature on American television screens as he answered questions and gave his government's position on the hostages. In June 1980, he openly opposed spy trials for the hostages that were being demanded by Iran s Moslem militants. Glenn called on President Reagan last week to act immediately to eliminate "serious deficiencies" that could result in possible diversion of nuclear materials from unspecified nuclear weapons production facilities. "This security problem becomes horrifying when we contemplate the threats that could be posed by subversive possession of these materials," Glenn said in a news release. The Savannah River Plant, 20 miles downstream from Augusta, is the government's only supplier of weapons-grade plutonium for nuclear weapons. It is a 300-Squai e-mile complex that includes three nuclear reactors, reprocessing plants that separate the plutonium and about 50 buried tanks for storing boiling nuclear wastes.
